On March 5, 2025, Congressman Ruiz tweeted about the economic pressures facing working families: "The American dream is slipping away under Trump’s leadership. And the cost of living is squeezing working families more than ever. Donald Trump’s policies are raising taxes on ordinary families, increasing the costs of groceries." He expressed his belief that President Trump "just doesn't care."
Later that day, he addressed environmental concerns in another tweet: "Trump proudly just listed all the ways in which his policies will create dirtier air and water, and threaten our children and grandchildren's future." Again, he concluded with the assertion that "He just doesn't care."
In a subsequent post, Ruiz criticized Trump's handling of grocery prices: "Trump still hasn't listed a single thing that he has done to reduce the prices of eggs or other groceries. That's because his policies are actually increasing costs for American families." The congressman reiterated his view that "He just doesn't care."
