UC San Diego’s track and field teams started their 2026 outdoor season with strong performances at the RCC Invitational, hosted by Riverside City College. Both the men’s and women’s teams secured overall victories at the meet, collecting a total of 16 event wins and setting six new stadium records.

A notable achievement was that 26 Tritons met qualification standards for The Big West Championships. The team also saw significant improvements to its all-time top-10 performance lists, including Miles Bennett in high jump, Jaden Rucker in long jump, and the men’s 4x100m relay team, who now hold second place in school history for their events.

On the women’s side, distance runners Dasha LeFaivre (800m), Sylvana Northrop (1,500m), and Christel Elkins (3,000m) each won their races. Northrop’s time set a new stadium record by nearly four seconds. In field events, Bella Di Silvestri won her first collegiate pole vault competition with a mark of 3.80 meters—a stadium record—while Feyi Olukanni claimed victory in shot put with a throw of 14.19 meters, also a new stadium best.

The women’s relay teams had successful outings as well. The 4x100m team—Jordyn Thomas, Eden Enoru, Brionna Dickens, and Lauren McBride—finished first with a time of 47.03 seconds. The 4x400m group of Rachel Aguilar, Eden Enoru, Jayla Addison, and Jordyn Thomas set another stadium record at 3:47.63.

For the men’s team, there were nine event wins including six from field events. Miles Bennett set a new stadium record in high jump at 2.14 meters while Kenneth Tucker won triple jump with a result of 14.93 meters. Zach Lewis took first place in both shot put (16.99 meters) and discus (53.21 meters). Bryan Chang won hammer throw at 57.02 meters; Kyle Wood narrowly beat teammate Sam Betz to win javelin with a toss of 54.88 meters.

The men’s relay team consisting of Jordan Agbettor, Brandon Orlow, Antrell Harris and Anthony Flowers broke the stadium record in the 4x100m relay with a time of 40.41 seconds. Orlow later secured victory in the 200m sprint while Agbettor won his debut race in the 400m.

“Great start for the Tritons,” said head coach Kim Graham-Miller. “We are really excited about this outdoor season.”

Next weekend will see UC San Diego compete at two meets: San Diego State’s Aztec Coastal Track Classic and Distance Carnival on March 13th followed by Cal State Fullerton’s Ben Brown Invitational on March 14th.

UC San Diego Athletics has transitioned from NCAA Division II to Division I as part of The Big West Conference after earning numerous championships and academic honors over two decades across Divisions II and III.
