Congressman Raul Ruiz highlights local business support and political issues

Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., currently serving California's 25th district, shared a series of tweets addressing local business support, healthcare funding concerns, and political criticism. Born in Zacatecas City, Mexico, Ruiz has been a U.S. Congress member since 2013 after replacing Mary Bono.

On March 18, 2025, Congressman Ruiz expressed gratitude to Lily Flores and the team at 2GO Salads for their hospitality and service. He praised the establishment as "a great salad and sandwich spot in #CalexicoCA" and emphasized his pride in supporting local small businesses throughout his district. "Thank you Lily Flores and 2GO Salads team for your hospitality and great service. What a great salad and sandwich spot in #CalexicoCA. The food was delicious! I’m proud to support local small businesses throughout #CA25."

Later that day, on March 18, Ruiz highlighted the potential impact of funding cuts on Medi-Cal programs in his district. He noted that "420,206 people depend on Medi-Cal’s essential programs," expressing concern that these cuts would harm working-class families by reducing access to healthcare while benefiting billionaires with tax breaks. "In #CA25, 420,206 people depend on Medi-Cal’s essential programs. Funding cuts threaten access to essential medical resources."

On March 19, Ruiz criticized efforts by President Trump and certain House Republicans to dismantle agencies like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). He warned that such actions could leave American consumers vulnerable to corporate malpractices. He reminded followers that Congress established the CFPB in response to past financial abuses."As President Trump and extreme House Republicans attempt to dismantle critical agencies like the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau..."
