Congressman Raul Ruiz criticizes VA layoffs and Medicaid cuts

Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., representing California's 25th district, has recently expressed his concerns through a series of tweets regarding decisions affecting veterans and Medicaid. Serving in Congress since 2013, Ruiz is vocal about issues impacting his constituents.

On March 5, 2025, Congressman Ruiz criticized the Department of Veterans Affairs' plan to terminate over 80,000 employees, including 20,000 veterans. He addressed Secretary of Veterans Affairs Doug Collins directly, seeking an explanation on how this action would improve health and benefits for veterans. Continuing his critique on March 6, 2025, Ruiz highlighted the potential negative impacts of these layoffs.
