Congressman Raul Ruiz celebrates local achievements and community service

Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., representing California's 25th District, shared several updates on social media highlighting recent achievements and engagements. Dr. Ruiz has been serving in Congress since 2013, succeeding Mary Bono. Born in Zacatecas City, Mexico, he moved to the United States where he pursued higher education at the University of California, Los Angeles and Harvard University.

On March 3, 2025, Congressman Ruiz congratulated the winners of this year’s CA25 Congressional App Challenge. "Congratulations to this year’s #CA25 Congressional App Challenge winners! It’s great to see the incredible talent of our high school students, including those from Calipatria and Niland." He noted their app, MedCentral, which aids patients who speak a foreign language or have a disability.

In a post dated March 4, 2025, Dr. Ruiz expressed gratitude for meeting with Army veteran Dick Gauthier. "It made my day when my constituent, Dick Gauthier, an Army veteran who served in the Vietnam War from 1965 until 1971, came to my office seeking assistance to receive the Purple Heart he earned while serving our country." He thanked Mr. Gauthier for his service and emphasized his commitment to assisting veterans.

On March 5, 2025, Congressman Ruiz announced his honor in welcoming Dr. Ida Obeso-Martinez to a Joint Address to Congress. "I’m honored to welcome Dr. Ida Obeso-Martinez of @cityofimperial to tonight’s Joint Address to Congress." He highlighted her insights into Medicaid's importance for communities like CA25 where over 420,000 people depend on its services.
