CITY OF DEL MAR: NCTD report outlines fencing plan for Del Mar bluffs

Zz

City Of Del Mar issued the following announcement.

The North County Transit District on Friday issued a report to the City that outlines plans to install chain link fencing along the Del Mar bluffs rail corridor.

Prepared by the consulting firm WSP, the “Trespasser Risk Reduction Study: Risk Reduction & Feasibility Analysis” (PDF)examines railroad rights-of-way and bases its findings on data gathered between October 2019 and June 2020. The City was not included in the preparation of the report.

The report outlines plans for 6-foot-tall fencing, with security gates, on both sides of the railroad tracks between Coast Boulevard and the North Torrey Pines Bridge.

The City of Del Mar has not agreed to the proposed fencing. Del Mar will be working in collaboration with the California Coastal Commission, SANDAG, and other regional agencies to ensure NCTD respects the rights, property, environmental and safety considerations along the Del Mar bluffs.

Members of the public can address NCTD’s Board of Directors on the fencing plans during the public comment portion of the board’s meeting at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 15.

Questions about the report can be directed to NCTD Chief of Safety Sean Loofbourrow, 760-967-2827 or sloofbourrow@nctd.org
