Rep. Mike Levin, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, recently shared several updates on his Twitter account regarding immigration enforcement, oil company profits during the war in Iran, and concerns over USAID funding under the Trump Administration.
On May 8, 2026, Levin posted about recent data he received from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) concerning deportations in San Diego: “After months of pressing ICE for answers about deportation operations in San Diego, I finally got a response. Here’s what they told us: 16,368 people were removed from the San Diego area between January 2025 and April 2026. Here’s what they didn’t tell us: how many had https://t.co/IHR2ZOCHtc”.
Later that day, Levin commented on oil company earnings amid ongoing conflict in Iran: “You know who’s making a whole lot of money off of the war in Iran? You guessed it, the oil companies. Shell has made nearly $7 billion in the first three months of this year. That’s more than double what they made last quarter. BP? They made $3.2 billion, also doubling”.
In another post dated May 9, 2026, Levin criticized actions by the Trump Administration related to international aid programs: “Why is no one talking about this?! This Administration dismantled USAID, and now they want YOU to pay the bill. Congress approved $2 billion for malaria, tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS programs, and more. Now the Trump Administration is trying to use it not to make anyone healthier,”.
Levin was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano at age 44. He holds a BA from Stanford University (2001) and a JD from Duke University (2005). He succeeded Darrell Issa as representative for California’s 49th district beginning with his election to Congress in 2019.
