Rep. Mike Levin, a member of Congress representing California’s 49th district since 2019, recently posted a series of tweets addressing concerns about the U.S. economy, health care policy, and presidential authority over tariffs.
On December 1, 2025, Levin commented on economic anxiety among Americans during the holiday season. He stated, “Consumer confidence has fallen to its lowest level since April. Far too many Americans are worried about affording even simple holiday gifts. The Trump economy keeps missing the mark for working families who deserve stability, not more uncertainty.”
The following day, on December 2, Levin raised concerns regarding health care coverage and legislative inaction. He wrote, “Just got back to DC, and the clock is running out on health care for millions of Americans. Mike Johnson is still refusing to act on ACA credits that expire in weeks. If they don’t move now, huge numbers of Americans will be priced out of their health coverage. House Republicans”
Later that same day, Levin addressed recent actions by Costco related to federal trade policy: “Costco is right to challenge Trump’s unlawful tariffs. He abused emergency powers to sidestep Congress’s clear constitutional authority over trade. No president can rewrite tariff law on a whim. For the American consumers, businesses, and farmers paying the price, Congress must”
Levin’s remarks come amid ongoing debates in Washington over economic conditions and government intervention in trade and health care policies.
A Democrat born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano, Levin holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD). He succeeded Darrell Issa as representative for California’s 49th district in 2019.
