Rep. Mike Levin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th district since 2019, posted a series of tweets on March 18 and 19, 2026, raising concerns about statements and actions from former President Donald Trump and his administration.
On March 18, Levin questioned the credibility of a claim made by Trump regarding advice he allegedly received from a former president: “Trump says a former U.S. president told him he wished he had bombed Iran. But it wasn’t Biden, Obama, Clinton, or Bush…any of the four living U.S. presidents. So which former president was it, exactly?” (March 18, 2026).
Later that day, Levin criticized the Trump Administration’s approach to economic policy: “How out of touch is the Trump Administration? Trump’s top economic advisor just said that hurting consumers is ‘the last of our concerns.’ Last I checked, consumers ARE the economy, and they should be the number one priority for everyone in Washington.” (March 18, 2026).
In another post early on March 19, Levin commented on remarks made by President Trump regarding Supreme Court justices: “This is unhinged. The President of the United States went on a late-night rant, making clear he believes the Supreme Court justices he appointed owe him their loyalty and should always rule in his favor. The President of the United States is openly attacking the independence” (March 19, 2026).
Levin has served as representative for California’s coastal and northern San Diego County district since replacing Darrell Issa in Congress in 2019. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano at age 44, Levin holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
