Rep. Mike Levin, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, posted a series of statements on his Twitter account addressing government spending priorities, presidential fitness for office, and concerns about insider trading in prediction markets.

On May 14, 2026, Levin criticized the Trump Administration’s budget requests, writing: “Let’s talk about what the Trump Administration wants money for:

~$50 billion for an unauthorized war in Iran that no one wants
~$1 billion for White House Ballroom security funded by taxpayers
~$2 billion to kill offshore wind farms that would have lowered your energy bills”
.

Later that day, he addressed issues of presidential fitness and transparency: “Americans have a right to know whether their President is fit to serve, and that applies to both parties.

In July 2024, I called on the sitting president of my own party to pass the torch. It was not an easy thing to say about a president I had worked with and respected deeply.”

On May 15, 2026, Levin raised alarms regarding prediction markets and potential insider trading tied to sensitive government information: “The insider trading problem with prediction markets is bigger than any of us could have known.

The New York Times found 80+ Polymarket accounts showing signs of insider trading, many tied to U.S. military operations, including seven that collectively won $1.4 million on the”.

Levin has served as the representative for California’s 49th District since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano at age 44, Levin holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
