Rep. Mike Levin, serving California’s 49th district since 2019, recently shared insights into his work and perspectives on several issues through a series of tweets. Born in Inglewood, California, in 1978, Levin has been an active member of the U.S. Congress and resides in San Juan Capistrano.
On May 14, 2025, Levin tweeted about his visit to SonTek, a San Diego-based company specializing in water monitoring technology aimed at promoting sustainability. He noted that like many local businesses, SonTek faces challenges due to tariffs affecting imported parts and exported finished products.
Later that day, Levin expressed his stance on financial ethics for members of Congress. “Members of Congress shouldn’t be working to line their pockets. They should be working for the American people,” he stated. He reiterated his commitment made upon joining Congress never to trade individual stocks and advocated for banning such trading among all members.
In another tweet from May 14, Levin discussed a meeting with the Army Corps of Engineers and local leaders regarding the San Luis Rey River flood control project in Oceanside. He mentioned securing several million dollars for this long-awaited initiative and pledged ongoing efforts to see it completed.
Mike Levin graduated from Stanford University with a BA in 2001 and obtained a JD from Duke University in 2005.
