Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on July 22, 2025, highlighting legislative progress and criticizing recent congressional actions.
In his first post at 18:04 UTC, Levin addressed ongoing efforts to manage spent nuclear fuel: “When I got to Congress, nothing was happening on spent nuclear fuel. Waste was piling up across the country with no plan. Now we are making real bipartisan progress to move it safely, lower costs for taxpayers, and finally protect communities like ours.”
Later that day at 19:57 UTC, Levin criticized Republican lawmakers regarding arts funding and a proposed renaming of the Kennedy Center: “You can’t make this up. Republicans just voted to slash the Smithsonian’s funding and cut 35% of funding that promotes and strengthens the arts. So what are they doing to distract? They’re trying to rename the Kennedy Center after Melania Trump in the same bill. Shameful to”
A third tweet was posted at 21:47 UTC but only included a link without additional commentary: “https://t.co/buKgGnUy0r”.
Levin has represented California’s 49th District since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019 and is noted for his work on environmental issues as well as cultural policy initiatives ([source](https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/L000593)).
