Rep. Mike Levin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress, where he represents California’s 49th district, has recently used his social media to express concerns regarding the effects of former President Trump’s policies on the economy and potential issues of insider trading related to tariffs.
On May 3, 2025, Rep. Levin criticized Trump’s handling of tariffs, noting that “Trump repeatedly broke promise after promise that he was going to lower prices. His senseless tariffs have caused costs to climb.”.
Later that same day, Levin pointed out the real impact felt by businesses and consumers, stating that “Businesses are showing how Trump is singlehandedly raising costs. At the end of the day, foreign countries don’t pay tariffs. You do.”.
On May 4, 2025, Levin announced a formal inquiry into possible insider trading, revealing that “I sent a letter to the White House demanding answers on potential insider trading prior to Trump’s tariffs pause. We can’t let them get away with this.” Levin’s actions underscore ongoing concerns about tariff policies and their implications.
Mike Levin, born in Inglewood, California in 1978, graduated from Stanford University and Duke University, holds a BA and JD, respectively, and resides in San Juan Capistrano. He began serving in Congress in 2019 following Darrell Issa.
