Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on February 25, 2026, criticizing former President Donald Trump’s recent statements and actions regarding foreign policy and domestic economic issues.
In his first tweet, Levin commented on Trump’s claims about ending wars, writing on February 25: “Trump keeps going on about the wars he says he’s ended, but what he won’t mention are all of the global conflicts he keeps trying to get us involved in. Mind you, WITHOUT Congressional approval.”
Later that morning, Levin addressed Trump’s State of the Union address: “Donald Trump gave the longest State of the Union in history. But it didn’t include a single serious plan to lower costs for working families.
Instead, he tried to tell you everything is great while your grocery bill, your rent, and your credit card statement say the opposite.” (February 25)
In another post later that day, Levin questioned several claims made by Trump during his speech: “We heard many lies from the President of the United States last night.
Lies about tariffs being good for the American people.
Lies about how well the economy is performing.
Lies about how affordable everyday life has become.
He can only say these things because admitting” (February 25)
Levin has represented California’s 49th District since 2019 after succeeding Darrell Issa. He was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Levin graduated from Stanford University with a BA in 2001 and earned a JD from Duke University in 2005.
