Rep. Mike Levin, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, posted a series of tweets on April 15, 2026, criticizing former President Donald Trump and commenting on recent events related to tax enforcement and presidential pardons.
In one tweet dated April 15, 2026, Levin alleged that Trump had contradicted his public support for American steelworkers by using foreign steel for White House renovations: “Trump doubled tariffs on foreign steel and told American steelworkers he had their backs. Then he turned around and is now using foreign steel to build his $400 million White House ballroom. Two days after accepting the donation, the White House issued a proclamation”.
Later that day, Levin addressed Trump’s approach to presidential pardons: “Trump has promised blanket pardons to everyone within 200 feet of the Oval Office. You don’t do that unless you’re asking people to do things that are wrong or illegal. The pardon power was never supposed to be a get-out-of-jail-free card for the president’s inner circle.”
In another post from April 15, Levin commented on tax enforcement practices in light of recent cases involving high-profile individuals: “If you don’t pay your taxes, the government comes after you. That’s not a threat, it’s just how it works, and it works that way for everyone…or at least it used to. Levin was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. He graduated from Stanford University with a BA in 2001 and earned his JD from Duke University in 2005.
