Rep. Mike Levin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th district since 2019, used his social media account to criticize recent actions by former President Donald Trump regarding war powers and domestic policy.
On March 23, 2026, Levin wrote: “When this President bypasses Congress to engage in war with Iran, he isn’t just ignoring us. He’s ignoring you.
Congress is how the American people have a say. Your Member of Congress is your voice in Washington. The founders entrusted Congress with the power to declare war so https://t.co/Blr6BAdWf1″
The following day, on March 24, 2026, Levin addressed economic issues tied to military action: “Gas is up. Electricity is up. Groceries are up. Every single one made worse by a war Trump engaged in without asking Congress or the American people.
The cheapest energy in the world doesn’t run through the Middle East. Every dollar we invest in clean energy shields American https://t.co/3fr1bAgSbN”
Later that same day, Levin commented on government funding negotiations and airport security delays: “Trump has had endless opportunities to end this TSA nightmare and he has refused EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.
The top Senate Republican went to Trump this weekend, deal in hand to fund every part of the government except for ICE. It had Republican and Democratic support. Trump killed it.”
Levin’s remarks come as debates continue over presidential authority in military engagement and its domestic impacts, including rising consumer costs and challenges within federal agencies such as the TSA.
Mike Levin was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano at age 44. He earned his undergraduate degree from Stanford University in 2001 before obtaining a law degree from Duke University in 2005.
