Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of national policy issues on his social media account.
On April 15, 2026, Levin drew attention to federal energy assistance programs and their impact on American families. He stated, “Heating and cooling your home isn’t a luxury. For millions of families, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program is the difference between keeping the lights on and choosing between energy bills and groceries. Trump is trying to cut it for the SIXTH time. Gas prices are up”.
Later that day, Levin commented on tax policy under former President Donald Trump’s administration: “Trump promised to put money back in your pocket, but nearly every American is paying more in taxes this year, except for the wealthiest 5%, who got a cut. Call it what it is: a wealth transfer, and the American people are footing the bill.”
On April 16, 2026, Levin criticized arguments from some Washington Republicans regarding Congressional consultation during wartime decisions: “One of the most dangerous arguments I’m hearing right now from Washington Republicans is that Congress didn’t need to be consulted in the first 60 days of this war. That’s not what the Constitution says, it’s certainly not what the War Powers Act says, and it’s not backed by”.
Levin has served as a member of Congress since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Born in Inglewood in 1978, he earned degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
