Rep. Mike Levin, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, has recently used his social media platform to criticize federal contract and grant management practices under the Trump administration.

On May 12, 2026, Levin posted: “Trump is handing out no-bid contracts left and right, and he’s not even trying to hide it.

This Administration keeps invoking emergency exemptions meant for genuine crises to skip competitive bidding entirely, and somehow, every time they do, the contract ends up going to https://t.co/FnqDU9bKIW”

The following day, on May 13, Levin addressed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in another post: “DOGE wanted you to think they were cutting waste. These cuts didn’t reduce the federal deficit by a single dollar. What they https://t.co/TrnG4f8KUM”

Later on May 13, Levin continued his criticism of government priorities: “We can tell, and the American people are paying for it.

Caring about the financial situation and well-being of the American people is literally your job. If you don’t care about that at all, then you have no business being President of the United States. https://t.co/IxXm1JJ26o”

Levin has represented California’s 49th District since succeeding Darrell Issa in 2019. He was born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Levin graduated from Stanford University with a BA in 2001 and earned a JD from Duke University in 2005.
