Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, criticized the Trump Administration’s energy policies in a series of posts on August 21, 2025.

In his first tweet, Levin stated, “@ENERGY @EPA But instead, the Trump Administration is too busy prioritizing the fossil fuel industry’s best interests, leaving you to pay the bill.” This was followed by another post warning of financial consequences for consumers: “@ENERGY @EPA The bottom line is that YOUR energy costs will increase by up to $400 PER YEAR because of the cuts to funding for cheaper, cleaner sources of energy.”

Levin concluded his comments with a call for action from Republican lawmakers: “@ENERGY @EPA Republicans must reverse course. Otherwise, they will be single-handedly responsible for raising the energy bills of hard-working Americans and ceding future clean energy jobs to our competitors. They can’t say no one warned them.”

Levin has represented California’s 49th District since 2019 after succeeding Darrell Issa. He was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Levin holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and a Juris Doctor from Duke University.
