Rep. Mike Levin, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, has expressed strong opposition to recent legislative actions by Republicans through a series of tweets. Levin, who succeeded Darrell Issa and resides in San Juan Capistrano, shared his concerns about the potential impact of these policies on vulnerable communities and environmental progress.
On July 2, 2025, Rep. Levin criticized the “Big Ugly Bill,” stating that it “will cut food assistance and leave millions of Americans to rely on local food banks.” He described the bill as “disgusting” for allegedly taking resources from vulnerable communities to benefit the ultrawealthy.
The following day, July 3, 2025, he commented on the health implications for Californians due to decisions made by former President Trump and Congressional Republicans. He stated that they are “sacrificing the health of over 2.3 MILLION Californians to make their billionaire friends richer.”
Later on July 3, Rep. Levin addressed concerns regarding clean energy progress and energy costs related to Republican legislation. He asserted that “The Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill will devastate the progress we’ve made on clean energy and cause energy bills to skyrocket.”
