Rep. Mike Levin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th district since 2019, has posted on social media expressing concern about the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on Americans.
On November 1, 2025, Levin wrote, “I’m willing to negotiate with anyone in good faith to reopen the government. House Republicans’ five-week vacation is forcing millions of Americans to pay more for health care, miss their paychecks, and lose the food assistance they rely on. It’s time for House Republicans to”. He also shared a link in a separate post on the same day: “https://t.co/0wLUJzlr7e”.
Continuing his criticism of House Republicans’ approach to health care during the shutdown, Levin posted on November 2, 2025: “What is House Republicans’ plan to lower health care costs? We’re five weeks into this shutdown and they have yet to come up with a plan. I don’t think they even have “concepts of a plan.” https://t.co/sTXMsBCLnA”.
Levin’s statements come as the federal government remains closed for five weeks due to a budget impasse in Congress. As he noted in his posts, this situation has led to disruptions in paychecks and food assistance for many Americans.
Mike Levin succeeded Darrell Issa as representative of California’s 49th congressional district in 2019. Born in Inglewood, California in 1978, Levin resides in San Juan Capistrano. He graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and later earned a Juris Doctor from Duke University.
