Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, criticized government spending and House Republican leadership in a series of posts on October 31, 2025.
In his first post, Levin wrote, “Americans are cutting back on groceries, paying more for health care, and stretching every dollar. Yet, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is using taxpayer dollars to buy $170M in luxury jets. Americans shouldn’t have to watch government officials live by a different standard.” (October 31, 2025).

Later that day, Levin commented on the ongoing government shutdown and statements made by Speaker Johnson: “Speaker Johnson said House Republicans are doing some of the most meaningful work of their careers during this shutdown. What a joke. https://t.co/nNeB12mtDn” (October 31, 2025).
Levin has represented California’s 49th District since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019. He was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Levin holds a BA from Stanford University and a JD from Duke University.
