Rep. Mike Levin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th district, has been vocal on several issues through his social media presence. Levin, who succeeded Darrell Issa in 2019, shared his concerns regarding recent political maneuvers and administrative decisions via a series of tweets.
On June 17, 2025, Rep. Levin criticized OMB Director Russ Vought for his role in Project 2025. In his tweet, he stated that “OMB Director Russ Vought—the architect of Project 2025—wasn’t elected to anything. But my Republican colleagues were. Pocket rescission is illegal. If you believe Congress controls the nation’s checkbook, stand against this. Do your job. We are not a monarchy.”
Later that day, at 18:21 UTC, Levin addressed the issue of military deployment for law enforcement purposes without presidential invocation of the Insurrection Act. He emphasized that “Deploying the military for the purpose of law enforcement is illegal absent the President invoking the Insurrection Act. Our service members should never be used as political pawns.”
At 20:36 UTC on the same day, Levin expressed disapproval of arbitrary deportation quotas enforced by Stephen Miller and the current administration’s approach to immigration policy. He remarked that “Stephen Miller knows that enforcing arbitrary deportation quotas doesn’t make Americans any safer. But this Administration doesn’t want law and order, it wants cruelty and spectacle.”
Mike Levin was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. He graduated from Stanford University with a BA in 2001 and earned a JD from Duke University in 2005.
