Rep. Mike Levin, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, posted a series of statements on July 20, 2025, addressing energy policy and legislative actions in Congress.
In one post on July 20, Levin criticized recent moves by former President Trump regarding clean energy infrastructure: “First they slashed wind and solar. Now Trump’s making it harder to build the infrastructure we need. We need American-made clean, cheap energy to compete with China, lower costs, and stay energy independent. I’m fighting to make sure we don’t fall behind.” The post underscores his advocacy for domestic renewable energy sources and concerns about maintaining U.S. competitiveness and energy independence.
Later that day, Levin commented on a legislative vote: “I voted NO on the GOP’s reckless rescissions bill to claw back $9B in already-approved funds—including for NPR, PBS, and global health. It hurts local news, public education, and efforts to fight deadly disease. Shortsighted. Harmful. We can do better.” He voiced opposition to proposed budget cuts affecting public broadcasting and global health initiatives.
Levin has represented California’s 49th district since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019 and resides in San Juan Capistrano. Born in Inglewood in 1978, he is an alumnus of Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
