Rep. Mike Levin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th district since 2019, criticized House Republicans in a series of posts on October 30, 2025, highlighting concerns over legislative inaction and energy policy impacts.
In a tweet posted at 15:39 UTC on October 30, Levin wrote: “Five straight weeks. House Republicans have walked off the job while families face rising costs and health care premiums. It is an utter dereliction of duty. While they hide at home and play politics, I am ready to work with anyone to protect Americans’ health care.”
Later that day, at 18:36 UTC, Levin commented on national energy policies by stating: “Clean energy is cheap energy. Trump’s policies are doing the opposite. Blocking wind and solar, bailing out coal, and slapping tariffs that raise grid costs mean that 49 states are facing higher electric and gas bills, with Americans paying hundreds more a year.” He also shared an additional post containing only a link at the same time: “https://t.co/TU5ggVuXO1”.
Levin’s comments come as he continues his tenure in Congress after replacing Darrell Issa in 2019 as representative for California’s 49th district. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano, Levin holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD). His remarks reflect ongoing debates about healthcare access and energy affordability affecting American households.
