Rep. Mike Levin, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, used his social media platform on March 10, 2026, to criticize recent federal policies affecting veterans’ healthcare, fuel prices, and presidential pardons.
In his first post of the day, Levin addressed staffing shortages at Veterans Affairs facilities prior to the Trump administration and claimed that the situation worsened under its leadership. He wrote on March 10: “Before Trump took office, our veterans were already waiting too long to receive care. More than 90% of VA facilities had severe doctor shortages, and 80% had severe nurse shortages. So, what did this Administration do about it? They eliminated over 14,400 medical positions at”.
Later that afternoon, Levin commented on rising fuel costs in relation to foreign policy decisions. On March 10 he posted: “If you’re angry about paying more at the pump for a war you never voted for, the President of the United States has a message for you: you’re a fool.”
In another post from March 10, Levin criticized former President Trump’s use of presidential pardons. He stated: “Trump’s pardons have forgiven $1.5 BILLION in criminal debts. That’s money that was owed to victims and the government. That number comes from the conservative Cato Institute, by the way. The presidential pardon was never meant to be a billion-dollar favor factory.”
Levin has represented California’s coastal and suburban communities since succeeding Darrell Issa in Congress in 2019. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano, Levin holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
