Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on January 6, 2026, addressing recent political developments and expressing concerns about Congressional actions and decisions.
In his first tweet at 17:38 UTC, Levin criticized former President Donald Trump for his handling of a significant military event: “A major U.S. military operation led to the capture of a foreign head of state — and Donald Trump chose to brief oil executives instead of Congress. You don’t get to bypass the Constitution to cut deals with corporations. This has nothing to do with American security and https://t.co/amm2vrtxE4”.
Later that day, at 19:37 UTC, Levin commented on the lack of Congressional action to honor law enforcement officers involved in protecting the Capitol during the events of January 6: “I am in disbelief that this Congress still hasn’t found the political will to do something as basic, as decent, as installing a plaque to honor the law enforcement officers who protected the Capitol on January 6. Honoring the people who risked their lives for this institution https://t.co/dtmctH4Awf”.
At 22:50 UTC, Levin addressed health care policy issues following the expiration of ACA tax credits: “The ACA tax credits have expired. This didn’t sneak up on anyone. Washington Republicans were warned for more than a year, and they chose to do nothing. They blocked every solution, stalled every fix, and deliberately ran out the clock, manufacturing this health care crisis”.
Levin has represented California’s 49th District since 2019 after succeeding Darrell Issa. He was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Levin holds a BA from Stanford University (2001) and a JD from Duke University (2005).
