Representative Mike Levin, serving California’s 49th district, has taken to social media to express his concerns on current fiscal and energy policy matters. Levin, who assumed office in 2019 after succeeding Darrell Issa, regularly uses his platform to comment on significant legislative and administrative actions.

On April 8, 2025, Levin addressed the issue of taxation in the United States, commenting on what he describes as the largest tax increase since 1968. He warned of the potential economic implications in his post: “This is the largest U.S. tax increase since 1968. A recession is now more likely than not. And those who can least afford it will be the hardest hit.” Levin asserted that this increase would disproportionately affect those with limited financial resources.

In another post on April 8, 2025, Levin drew comparisons between past and present situations without providing specific details. He simply remarked: “How it started vs. how it’s going. Yikes.”

Continuing his critique of current government policies on April 9, 2025, Levin highlighted his disapproval of the Trump Administration’s approach to the fossil fuel industry. He stated: “The Trump Administration is giving more handouts to the fossil fuel industry. Instead of investing in the future of clean energy, they’re wasting our tax dollars to keep the coal industry on life support.” Levin’s comments reflect his advocacy for clean energy spending and a transition away from coal dependency.
