Rep. Mike Levin, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, recently shared several statements via social media on pressing legislative matters. Born in Inglewood, California, Levin is an alumnus of Stanford University and Duke University School of Law.
On May 14, 2025, Rep. Mike Levin advocated for a prohibition on Congressional stock trading through a tweet stating: “We need a ban on Congressional stock trading.”
Later the same day, he announced his request for substantial federal funding aimed at coastal safety improvements following a recent maritime accident near Del Mar. His tweet read: “I’m requesting $60 million in federal funding for new technology along our coasts to help stop incidents like the panga boat accident in Del Mar last week.” He further expressed commitment to bipartisan immigration reform by adding, “I also won’t stop fighting for bipartisan immigration reform. We need both security and humanity.”
In another post from May 14, 2025, Levin called upon congressional leaders to act on stock trading legislation. He addressed House Speaker Johnson directly with these words in his tweet: “Let’s get this done, @SpeakerJohnson. You support a ban on stock trading. Leader Jeffries supports one. President Trump supports one. Let’s bring a bill to the floor.”
Levin has served as the representative for California’s 49th District since succeeding Darrell Issa in 2019 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano.
