Rep. Mike Levin, who has represented California’s 49th District in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently addressed several issues through his social media posts. Levin, a Stanford and Duke University graduate born in Inglewood in 1978, used his platform to comment on environmental concerns, agricultural policy, and federal disaster response.
On July 14, 2025, Levin referenced ongoing efforts to address pollution in the Tijuana River. He stated: “Since 2019, we’ve delivered over half a billion dollars to address Tijuana River pollution. But without clear leadership, the crisis continues. That’s why I’m proud to join colleagues in pushing for EPA to lead and deliver overdue results for our communities.”
Later that day, Levin commented on statements attributed to Brooke Rollins regarding agricultural labor policy: “Brooke Rollins, Trump’s Agriculture Secretary with no farming background, says Medicaid recipients and machines can replace farmworkers. It is insulting, out of touch, and dangerous. Our food security depends on real labor, not fantasy and political spin.” This statement was posted on July 14, 2025.
In another post from July 14, 2025, Levin criticized FEMA’s response to flooding in Texas: “FEMA’s response to the deadly Texas floods was delayed because Kristi Noem micromanaged major decisions. This after gutting FEMA’s authority and budget flexibility. That’s not leadership. If she can’t trust experts in a crisis, she shouldn’t be in charge.”
Levin succeeded Darrell Issa as representative of California’s 49th District in 2019 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano.
