Rep. Mike Levin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th district since 2019, posted a series of tweets on August 21, 2025, criticizing Republican energy policies and their impact on electricity prices.
In his initial tweet, Levin referenced comments from Secretary Chris Wright of the Department of Energy: “Secretary Chris Wright of the @ENERGY said Republicans are ‘going to get blamed’ for rising electricity prices. In his third tweet on the subject, Levin cited job losses in the clean energy sector: @ENERGY 2. Over 60,000 clean energy jobs have been impacted since Trump took office in January. Companies have canceled, delayed, or laid off workers at 123 energy projects in 33 states, losing out on over $33.87 BILLION in investment. This is bad for workers, families struggling with (August 21, 2025).
Levin’s statements come amid ongoing debates over federal support for clean energy initiatives and recent changes made during budget negotiations between Congressional Republicans and former President Donald Trump.
