Rep. Mike Levin, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th District since 2019, recently addressed several pressing issues through his social media platform. Born in Inglewood, California, and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano, Levin holds a BA from Stanford University and a JD from Duke University.
On July 8, 2025, Rep. Mike Levin tweeted about a legislative initiative aimed at preventing carbon monoxide poisoning: “Carbon monoxide poisoning is preventable with a simple detector. @RepAngieCraig and I introduced the Safe Stay Act to require carbon monoxide detectors in all hotels and short-term rentals nationwide. One life lost is too many.” The proposed Safe Stay Act would mandate the installation of carbon monoxide detectors in accommodations across the country.
Later that day, on July 8, 2025, Rep. Levin expressed concerns regarding transparency within the Department of Veterans Affairs: “Time and time again, @SecVetAffairs has failed to answer basic questions on staffing at VA. We can’t protect veterans’ health care if VA refuses to share exactly who has left or been fired.” His remarks highlighted ongoing challenges related to staffing information within the department.
In another tweet on July 8, 2025, Rep. Levin underscored the urgency of bipartisan cooperation for disaster relief efforts: “Disaster relief should never be a partisan issue.” He urged immediate aid for flood-affected areas in Texas and California.
