Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, has posted a series of statements on social media addressing national policy issues and legislative initiatives.
On July 17, 2025, Levin criticized former President Donald Trump’s policies regarding federal assistance programs. He wrote: “Trump’s cuts to Medicaid and SNAP are a catastrophe that will force states to make impossible choices: feed kids or fund schools, care for seniors or pave roads. Congressional Republicans call it reform. It’s cruelty, all to pay for tax cuts for the rich.” (Posted July 17, 2025)
Later that same day, Levin commented on efforts to change the appropriations process in Congress: “The architect of Project 2025 wants the appropriations process to be ‘less bipartisan.’ My answer would be the same whether he was a Republican or a Democrat: hell no.” (Posted July 17, 2025)
On July 18, 2025, Levin announced legislative action aimed at campaign finance practices. He stated: “Too many Americans have been swindled by fundraising campaigns that use pre-checked boxes to sign-up donors for unconsented recurring contributions. @RepLaLota and I are reintroducing the Uncheck the Box Act, a commonsense solution to keep our political campaigns honest.” (Posted July 18, 2025)
Levin has served in Congress since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Born in Inglewood, California in 1978, he is an alumnus of Stanford University and Duke University School of Law.
