Rep. Mike Levin, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th district since 2019, recently shared a series of tweets addressing issues related to transparency and ethics in government, as well as healthcare concerns.
On May 16, 2025, Rep. Levin questioned former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s timing in selling her individual stocks. He wrote, “Pam Bondi had until early May to sell her individual stocks. Why did she choose the day Trump unveiled his tariffs as the day to sell her shares?” He further emphasized his commitment to demanding transparency from White House officials.
Later that same day, Rep. Levin expressed his concerns about ethical standards for members of Congress by stating that “The appearance of impropriety is just as dangerous as the impropriety itself.” He announced his advocacy for a ban on Congressional stock trading, asserting that members should not use their positions for personal financial gain.
In another tweet posted on May 16, Rep. Levin introduced Michelle, a constituent whose son suffers from a rare genetic disorder. He highlighted how proposed cuts to medical research funding by President Trump could impact families like Michelle’s. “Meet my constituent, Michelle,” he wrote while urging people to listen to her story.
Mike Levin was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. He graduated from Stanford University with a BA and earned a JD from Duke University.
