Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared updates on federal policy and local recognition through a series of posts on his official social media account.
On October 31, 2025, Levin commented on recent judicial decisions regarding federal nutrition assistance during a government shutdown: “Two federal judges just confirmed what’s obvious in law and decency: the Trump Administration must fund SNAP during the shutdown. Their attempt to hold 42 million Americans’ meals hostage for political leverage was unlawful, immoral, and disgraceful.”
In another post dated November 1, 2025, Levin highlighted community service efforts by a local resident: “I’m proud to recognize Annalise Aitken, a San Clemente resident, student, and volunteer extraordinaire, as my October Constituent of the Month! Annalise has completed over 900 hours of community service in the last three years for her local youth shelter, senior centers, and”
Later that same day, Levin addressed ongoing issues in Congress: “It’s day 43 since House Republicans last showed up to work. But Mike Johnson says they’re doing ‘some of the most meaningful work of their careers.’ Meaningful work would be opening the House back up to do the work the American people elected us to do.”
Levin has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Darrell Issa as representative for California’s 49th district. He was born in Inglewood in 1978 and resides in San Juan Capistrano. His academic background includes a BA from Stanford University (2001) and a JD from Duke University (2005).
