Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several key issues through a series of posts on his official social media account.
On November 6, 2025, Levin reflected on former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement and its significance for American history and his own career. He wrote, “Nancy Pelosi’s announcement marks the end of an extraordinary era in American history, and for me, the end of a chapter defined by mentorship, courage, and grace under pressure. When I first came to Congress, she was already a legend — the first woman to serve as Speaker of the” (November 6, 2025).
Later that day, Levin criticized proposed changes to funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), highlighting concerns about their real-world impact. He stated on November 6, 2025: “Funding half of SNAP doesn’t work. This is not abstract. This is real life, and USDA is hurting hardworking families.”
In another post on November 6, 2025, Levin discussed the ongoing federal government shutdown and its effects on federal employees nationwide. He shared his decision regarding congressional pay during this period: “Thousands of federal employees across the country are working unpaid or furloughed. Levin has served as a member of Congress since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019 and represents California’s coastal 49th district. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano at age 44, he holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
