Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, recently used his social media platform to address two pressing issues: nuclear waste management at San Onofre and concerns over FEMA disaster response.
On August 30, 2025, Levin wrote, “Pleased to join many community leaders in San Clemente to discuss getting the spent nuclear fuel off our coast at San Onofre as quickly and safely as possible. We’ve made great bipartisan progress, and securing a federal solution will remain one of my top priorities.”
The following day, on August 31, 2025, Levin commented on reports regarding FEMA staff: “Outrageous. FEMA staff warned that disaster response has been gutted—and instead of fixing it, they were suspended. Retaliating against civil servants for telling the truth puts Americans at risk.” He also shared an additional link in a subsequent post: “https://t.co/KwaFfa6HI9”.
Levin has served in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Darrell Issa and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Born in Inglewood in 1978, he is an alumnus of Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
