Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several topics on his social media account on October 20, 2025.
In a post from that day, Levin commented on a recent military exercise near a major highway: “Our Marines deserve to be celebrated for their service and sacrifice. But firing artillery over the 5 freeway was totally unnecessary and put public safety at risk. It had no bearing on military readiness and could have created significant danger for drivers.
I’m calling for a” (October 20, 2025).
Later the same day, Levin marked a cultural celebration with his constituents: “Happy Diwali to all those celebrating in CA-49 and around the world. May your holiday be filled with joy and light.” (October 20, 2025).
He also raised concerns about ongoing legislative negotiations affecting health insurance costs: “Congress has yet to reach an agreement to prevent a massive spike in health insurance premium costs that would affect families across the nation next year. The ACA tax credits, which help millions afford private health insurance through marketplaces like Covered California, are” (October 20, 2025).
Levin has served as the congressional representative for California’s 49th District since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019. He was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Levin holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
