Rep. Mike Levin, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, addressed environmental and immigration issues in a series of posts on July 25, 2025.
In a tweet posted at 12:08 UTC, Levin wrote, “Millions of microfibers enter our water systems every day. @SenJeffMerkley and I want to create a layer of protection by ensuring new washing machines include a filter that traps synthetic fibers before they enter our waterways and our bodies.”
Later the same day at 13:11 UTC, Levin highlighted the economic contributions of immigrant workers in Orange County, stating, “Immigrant workers in Orange County are employed in critical industries like retail, agriculture and healthcare, contributing approximately $425 million in state and local taxes every year. Trump wants to deport them.
There is no vision for a thriving economy that does not”
At 14:19 UTC on July 25, Levin posted another message: “Saying the quiet part out loud…”
Levin has served as the representative for California’s 49th District since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano, Levin holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
