Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several national and international issues in a series of posts on January 7, 2026.
In a post reflecting on the fifth anniversary of the attack on the U.S. Capitol, Levin stated: “Five years ago, the violent attack on our nation’s capital on January 6th exposed how fragile our democracy can be, and all that we must do to protect it. Addressing foreign affairs later that day, Levin commented on protests in Iran: “Across Iran, people are protesting a regime that has failed them economically, politically, and morally. Iranians have the right to peacefully protest, to speak freely, and to demand a government that serves the needs of its people. Yet the regime continues to prioritize” (January 7, 2026).
On domestic policy matters concerning health care access for Americans, Levin posted: “This is a make-or-break week for millions of working families. Congress is taking a key vote on extending the ACA tax credits. Levin has served as California’s representative since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano at age 44, he holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
