Rep. Mike Levin, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, posted a series of tweets addressing immigration enforcement policies, public engagement efforts, and the anniversary of a landmark Supreme Court decision.
On January 22, 2026, Levin criticized Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the rejection by Republican leadership of proposed reforms. He wrote, “ICE is out of control. We proposed simple, common-sense guardrails: no deporting U.S. citizens, no masks, require warrants, stop excessive force. Washington Republican leadership rejected every one. Federal agencies must follow the law and operate transparently.”
The following day on January 23, Levin invited constituents to participate in a virtual event aimed at fostering communication with his district. He stated in his post: “Join me tonight at 5pm PT for my telephone town hall! I’m looking forward to hearing from you and answering your questions. Tune in on my website or Facebook.”
Later that same day, Levin marked the anniversary of Roe v. Wade with commentary on current reproductive rights in the United States: “Today marks the 53rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that recognized a woman’s constitutional right to privacy and to make her own health care decisions. Yet, today, millions of women across this country now have fewer rights than they did half a century”.
Levin was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano at age 44. He holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD). He succeeded Darrell Issa as representative for California’s 49th District beginning in 2019.
