Rep. Mike Levin, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, posted several updates on his official social media account this week, addressing environmental policy, an art competition for students, and concerns about the cost of living.
On February 25, 2026, Levin criticized recent federal actions on coal-burning power plants. He stated: “The EPA moved to roll back safeguards on coal-burning power plants—clearing the way for more toxic pollution in our air, including mercury, a neurotoxin that can permanently damage babies’ developing brains. Why? Because once again, the Trump Administration is siding with”.
Later that same day, Levin promoted an opportunity for young artists in his district: “The 2026 Congressional Art Competition is here! High school artists in #CA49, submit your original work for a chance to win a cash prize and have your art displayed in the US Capitol! The deadline to submit artwork is this Friday, February 27. On February 26, 2026, Levin commented on rising consumer costs and criticized former President Donald Trump’s stance on economic issues: “Donald Trump can’t bring himself to admit that we are in the middle of an affordability crisis. Levin has served as the representative for California’s 49th District since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019 and resides in San Juan Capistrano after being born in Inglewood in 1978. He holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
