Rep. Mike Levin, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, has recently addressed issues related to crime and immigration policy in a series of posts on his social media account.
On August 1, 2025, Levin stated: “For the past two and a half years, I’ve worked with local, state, and federal officials to stop Chilean nationals who have taken advantage of tourist visas in order to burglarize homes in our district. This week, U.S. and Chile launched a program to better track Chileans coming”. He followed this post with a link to further information: “https://t.co/g08lmlNoKO”.
The following day, August 2, 2025, Levin commented on current deportation policies: “This administration’s arbitrary 3,000 person deportation daily quota means immigration authorities are spending too much time targeting non-violent workers instead of violent criminals. These are workers who contribute positively to our society and economy, and pay their taxes.”
Levin has been serving as the representative for California’s 49th District since succeeding Darrell Issa in 2019. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano, Levin holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD). His recent statements come amid ongoing discussions about visa abuse by foreign nationals and the impact of federal deportation quotas on local communities.
