Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed energy policy and an incident involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in a series of posts on August 20, 2025.

In one post, Levin wrote: “Clean air and energy security aren’t partisan. They’re American. And if we want to protect both, we have to keep moving forward—not back to the smog, not back to the price spikes, and not back to a time when foreign oil dictated our future.

Read my latest thoughts on energy” (August 20, 2025).

Later that day, Levin commented on an ICE arrest near a school in Encinitas: “I have seen video of an ICE arrest this morning outside an elementary school in Encinitas. The video shows a young daughter visibly distressed by what she witnessed. No child should face that fear, particularly not when being dropped off at school.

I have personally urged ICE” (August 20, 2025).

Levin also shared a link without additional comment earlier that day: https://t.co/P7fgTJn9db (August 20, 2025).

Levin has served as the representative for California’s 49th District since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019. He was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Levin holds degrees from Stanford University and Duke University.
