Rep. Mike Levin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 49th district since 2019, recently addressed energy policy, health care, and the ongoing government shutdown in a series of posts on his official social media account.
On October 13, 2025, Levin emphasized the benefits of renewable energy, stating, “Clean energy sources help both hold down costs for Americans and prevent the U.S. from having to import so much foreign oil from countries hostile to our interests.”
I’m supportive of cheap energy. Clean energy IS cheap energy and improving our energy sources will keep us https://t.co/DzRi3QZNyq.
The following day, Levin commented on the approaching health insurance open enrollment period and criticized House Republicans’ stance on Affordable Care Act tax credits. On October 14, 2025, he wrote, “We’re weeks out from the health insurance open enrollment period and House Republicans are playing politics with Americans’ health care.
If Republicans don’t vote to extend the ACA tax credits, a 60-year-old couple making $80,000 would see their health care costs increase on”.
Later that same day, Levin addressed the ongoing government shutdown, writing, “It’s been 14 days since Speaker Johnson and Trump shut down the government and 25 days since the House was last in session.
House Republicans are refusing to do their job and it’s completely unacceptable.”
Levin has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Darrell Issa as representative for California’s 49th district. He was born in Inglewood, California in 1978 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Levin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University (2001) and a Juris Doctor from Duke University (2005).
