Representative Mike Levin, who serves California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed a range of political topics on his social media account, including campaign practices, federal budget priorities, and energy policy.
On July 18, 2025, Levin posted about transparency in political campaigns: “It’s not often the DOGE bot and I see eye to eye, but we can all agree that cutting out deceptive practices from political campaigns benefits us all.”
In a subsequent post dated July 19, 2025, Levin commented on statements made by Russ Vought regarding federal spending: “Russ Vought, Trump budget chief and key author of Project 2025, says federal spending should be ‘less bipartisan’ and Congress should effectively cede control to the White House. That’s unconstitutional, dangerous, and dismisses the voters who elect us to work in good faith.”
Later that day, Levin turned his attention to energy policy with criticism of Republican budget proposals: “The Republican budget will raise your power bill. It kills clean energy credits, rewards Big Oil, and blocks solutions that cut costs. Families pay more, billionaires get breaks. I’m fighting for cheaper, cleaner energy and jobs built here at home.”
Levin has represented California’s 49th District since 2019 after succeeding Darrell Issa. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano, he holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
