Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several national and personal issues in a series of tweets posted on January 5 and 6, 2026.
On January 5, Levin commented on recent changes to health care coverage: “The ACA tax credits have expired — and Washington Republicans just let it happen. Americans are already losing coverage they relied on just weeks ago. Premiums are jumping overnight, and millions of families are being forced to pay far more for health care than they did last” (January 5, 2026).
The following day, Levin discussed actions taken against Senator Mark Kelly: “Senator Mark Kelly dedicated more than 25 years of his life to serving this country in uniform. Now, the Trump Administration wants to censure and demote him for defending the Constitution and reminding our troops that they don’t have to follow ILLEGAL orders.” (January 6, 2026).
Later that same day, Levin expressed condolences regarding the death of a fellow congressman: “I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of my colleague, Congressman Doug LaMalfa. I had the privilege of serving alongside him for seven years, including on the House Natural Resources Committee, where we worked on issues critical to California and the nation.” (January 6, 2026).
Levin has represented California’s 49th District since replacing Darrell Issa in Congress in 2019. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano at age 44, he holds degrees from Stanford University (BA) and Duke University (JD).
