Rep. Mike Levin, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 49th district since 2019, addressed several policy issues on his social media account on September 26, 2025.
In a post at 16:21 UTC, Levin warned of potential consequences if Congress does not extend Affordable Care Act tax credits, stating, “In Oceanside with @SenAdamSchiff warning of the potential health care premium hikes if Congress doesn’t extend the ACA tax credits. A partisan funding bill without this extension will cause a 10% increase to Californians’ health care premiums. Republicans must act now.”
Later that day at 18:09 UTC, Levin commented on proposed changes to H-1B visa fees, saying, “The idea of slapping a $100,000 fee on each H-1B visa is exactly the kind of policy that sounds tough in Washington but makes no sense in the real world. For companies in our community, that kind of fee doesn’t mean more jobs for Americans—it means fewer projects here at home and”
At 22:32 UTC on the same day, Levin emphasized his commitment to Congressional spending authority with another statement: “I won’t stop fighting to defend Congress’s constitutional power of the purse. The Constitution makes clear that Congress, not the president, controls spending. While the Court allowed funds to be withheld for now, it said this is not a final determination. This is far from over.”
Levin has represented California’s 49th District since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019 and currently resides in San Juan Capistrano. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and now aged 44, he holds degrees from Stanford University and Duke University.
