Congressman Raul Ruiz, M.D., representing California’s 25th district, has shared several updates on social media regarding both personal and professional matters. Serving in the U.S. Congress since 2013, Ruiz is known for his active engagement with his constituents through platforms like Twitter.
On June 2, 2025, Congressman Ruiz expressed a personal moment of joy via a tweet when he observed an eaglet named Sunny take its first flight from the Big Bear nest. He shared his feelings as a father stating, “As a dad, I know how proud it feels to watch your child take their first big leap. Today, Sunny the eaglet soared from the Big Bear nest for the first time. So cool! Check it out!”
The following day, June 3, 2025, Ruiz addressed concerns over healthcare access in Blythe by tweeting about Palo Verde Hospital’s potential closure. Highlighting the impact on local communities, he wrote: “Palo Verde Hospital, the only acute-care facility within 100 miles of @CityofBlythe, is facing closure. That means no access to lifesaving services for over 18,000 residents and surrounding rural communities.” He emphasized his understanding of the situation due to his background as an emergency physician.
On June 4, 2025, Congressman Ruiz focused on broader healthcare issues affecting California’s hospitals in light of proposed Medi-Cal cuts. In his tweet addressing this issue he stated: “Met with hospitals in #CA25 about the devastating impact looming Medi-Cal cuts could have on our communities.” He warned that such financial reductions not only threaten hospital operations but also risk lives and jobs across affected areas.
Raul Ruiz was born in Zacatecas City, Mexico in 1972 and currently resides in Indio. He graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Science degree before earning further qualifications at Harvard University.
