Rep. Mike Levin, who represents California’s 49th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several concerns related to health care and economic issues through a series of posts on his social media account.
On December 13, 2025, Levin criticized actions by the current administration regarding staffing at the Department of Veterans Affairs. He stated, “The Administration is once again hurting our veterans who get care at the VA. After getting rid of 30,000 positions this year, they’re intentionally leaving 35,000 more health care jobs – including doctors and nurses – unfilled. That’s 65,000 fewer people who are meant to be” (posted December 13, 2025).
Later that day, Levin expressed concern over rising health insurance premiums for Americans and called for legislative action. He wrote, “Millions of Americans are just days away from huge premium spikes – some more than DOUBLING. American families are already stretched too thin. It’s time for Washington Republicans to act NOW so we can extend ACA tax credits and prevent a health care crisis before it’s too late.” (posted December 13, 2025).
In a subsequent post on the same date, Levin commented on recent trends in electricity costs while referencing former President Donald Trump’s assessment of the economy. He posted: “Trump rates the economy “A+++++”, meanwhile electricity costs are up 13% across the country. By cutting cheap, clean energy, his billionaire friends and Big Oil are reaping the financial benefits while American families pay the price.” (posted December 13, 2025).
Levin has served as a member of Congress since replacing Darrell Issa in 2019 and continues to represent California’s coastal district. Born in Inglewood in 1978 and currently residing in San Juan Capistrano, he holds degrees from Stanford University and Duke University.
